Going on a night out with friends can be great fun, but there are certain things that can spoil your evening – such as repeated unwanted advances from strangers.
One woman has recently shared how she went out with a friend she hadn’t seen in a while and they were having a great time, drinking and dancing until two men interrupted.
The woman, known only as Aili and posts on TikTok under the name @aili.likes.adventure, shared the “scary” experience she had in hopes of helping others stay safe.
In a video on the social media platform, which has amassed over 4.7 million views, she explained how she and her pal were approached by a man who asked to buy them drinks, they declined the offer and thought nothing more of it.
The man and his two friends then went and sat at the table beside them and wouldn’t give up.
Later when Aili and her friend got up to dance, they bumped into them again and it’s where the evening really took a turn.
She said: “We continued on with our night and ended up hitting the dance floor. I’ve never gotten to dance with this friend before and we were having the time of our lives until those men showed up on the dance floor.
“It wasn’t really a big deal because we just told everyone who asked to dance with us that we’re gay and we’re just trying to dance with each other, but these men were persistent.
“By the end of the day it’s just me and my friend dancing together and the two guys from earlier move up to us and shove beers in our hands.”
She continues: “They didn’t say we bought you these drinks, they didn’t say did you want to have them, they just put them in our hands.
“My friend started drinking hers immediately and as I put mine to my lips a voice dropped in my head and it said ‘do not drink’.
“So instead of drinking it, I put it back in his hand and I said, ‘You drink it’. He was so stunned.
“He literally backed away and all he could say was, no. So I pushed it and again I said ‘Take a drink’ and he said ‘No, I got it for you’.
“He wouldn’t even take the drink from me, so I immediately stopped my friend from drinking, grabbed her by the arm and said we’re leaving.”
But as they left the dance floor, Aili claims the man kept following her – so she pushed him away.
That’s when she noticed something was wrong with her friend – and she thinks the beer was to blame.
“My friend went from being able to dance with me and talk to me, to stumbling around barely able to form a sentence,” she recalls.
As they waited for an Uber, she noticed the men standing opposite them, staring, but thankfully the car arrived before anything else happened.
Aili adds: “We got home safe last night, but I know there’s so many women out there who don’t, so please take care of them and always, always trust your intuition.
“If something doesn’t feel right, it’s because it’s not right.”
Thousands responded to the TikTok post sharing their shock and thoughts on her story.
One said: “This breaks my heart. Thank goodness you trusted your gut.”
Another wrote: “You saved you and your friend’s life. Sending you both so much love!”
A third replied: “I don’t know a woman who doesn’t have a story like this. I’m glad you’re ok.”
